Hardened Steel Pin

1. Introduction

The hardened steel Pin is designed to meet the test requirements of  IEC60950 clause 2.10.8.4 and IEC60335-1 clause 21.2. It is applied to do scratch test for unscratched part of the surface of solid insulation of household appliance and printed circuit boards, to ensure the material has sufficient strength to prevent penetration by sharp implements. As per the standard requirement, the hardened steel pin should perpendicularly with a force of 30N±0.5N to unscratch part of the surface, the insulation shall then withstand the elecric strength test with the the pin still applied and used as one of the electrodes.
