IEC60065 Dielectric Strength Test Device: An In – Depth Look

1. What is the dielectric strength test device?

The IEC60065 dielectric strength test device is a professional equipment for electrical safety testing. 2. Structure of the dielectric strength test apparatus

3. Principle

The dielectric strength test instrument applies voltage to the test material, this is to detect the insulation performance of the test material under specific conditions is tested. This device cannot function independently. Instead, operator needs to use it in conjuction with a withstand voltage tester.

 

4. Operation

First to place the sample between the two metal rods,

Second to connect the high-end and low-end of the high-voltage rod of the withstand voltage tester with the red and black terminals of the dielectric strength test device,

Third to set the initial voltage: The starting voltage U applied to the test material at the beginning. Not more than half of the specified voltage value Ut‌.,

Fourth to increase the voltage: Rapidly increase the test voltage to the full value and maintain it at this voltage value for 1 minute‌,

Fifth to measure the insulation resistance: Measure the insulation resistance after 1 minute. If the insulation resistance is not less than the specified value and no arcing or breakdown occurs during the dielectric strength test, the material is considered to meet the requirements‌.

 

5. Maintenance

The maintenance of the dielectric strength test device is also very important, it needs to regular wiping of the body with cotton wool dipped in alcohol or anti-rust oil, and regular lubrication of the bearing positions.
