UL60335-2-24 Articulated Probe

1.Introduction

The articulated probe meets the requirements of UL60335-2-24 Annex 101. DVA and figure 101. DVA.1. The probe is to hazard assessment for moving parts and probe to simulate access to hazardous parts by 3.5-4.5 year old Children’s hand.

Notes:

1 – The probes were designed with a center pin to rotate the hand with respect to the lower arm. That motion can be equivalently represented by rotating the probe.

2 – The finger “tip” is developed to match the dimensions of the UL articulated probe. The diameter from the tip to the first joint then tapers from the tip dimensions to the finger diameter. The joints are spaced equally along the finger length.

3 – The probe is designed to permit the hand to “bend” with respect to the arm using a hinge pin located 6 mm (0,24 in) from the hand length (wrist end) and the hand is restricted in bending not more than 90° with respect to the arm.

a If the upper arm is required to evaluate a part it shall consist of a flexible tube attached at the end of the lower arm, as the exact position of the elbow cannot be readily determined from the data points chosen.
