IK Vertical Hammer: Empowering High – Energy Hammer Tests for Product Durability

What is IK Vertical Hammer?

The IK Vertical Hammer is a specialized tool developed in line with the IEC60068-2-75 test Ehc, specifically designed for high energy mechanical impact tests. Mechanical impact tests are crucial in assessing the durability and robustness of various products under sudden and intense forces. The hammer test, a type of mechanical impact test, plays a significant role in this field. The IK vertical hammer is capable of conducting the IK07 to IK11 tests as per IEC62262. Notably, this vertical hammer is applicable only on accessible horizontal surfaces. At its core, it is composed of a striking element and a guideway.

Structure of Vertical Impact Test Apparatus

The vertical impact test apparatus, an essential part of the hammer test setup, consists of striking elements (hammer), fixed-height guideways, and a test rig equipped with an electromagnet. The striking element is the key component in delivering the impact force during the mechanical impact test. The guideways determine the path of the falling hammer, and the length of the guideway represents the falling height. When the test is initiated, the hammer is released by the electromagnet and immediately falls through the guideway onto the specimen surface held in a horizontal plane. This setup facilitates the smooth execution of hammer tests and mechanical impact tests.

What are the Advantages of Pego’s Design?

1. The vertical impact test apparatus offers the flexibility to customize the travel height. With a regular height range of 0 – 1000mm, it can be adjusted to fit different heights of impact points, which is highly beneficial for conducting various hammer tests and mechanical impact tests on different types of specimens.

2. The test apparatus is equipped with a rigid plane support for placing the specimens. This stable support ensures accurate and reliable results during the mechanical impact tests.

Application and Reference Standard

The IK vertical hammer is designed based on IEC60068-2-75 and GB2423.55. It is widely used in mechanical hammer impact tests to assess the mechanical impact strength of products such as luminaires, household appliances, EVCS (Electric Vehicle Charging Stations), and more. By performing these tests, manufacturers can ensure that their products meet the requirements of standards like IEC60598-1, IEC62196-1, and others, enhancing the safety and reliability of their products.

Test IK Level

The vertical impact test apparatus is used for tests where the impact energy exceeds 2J, covering IK07 to IK11. In these tests, the hammer test plays a crucial role in determining the IK level of the product.

What is the Material of the Striking Elements?

The striking elements used in IK07 to IK11 hammer tests and mechanical impact tests are made of steel. Steel provides the necessary strength and durability to deliver consistent and accurate impact forces.
