Glow-Wire Test Apparatus
Overview

Glow wire test apparatus is a equipment designed to evaluate the flame resistant properties of plastic materials used in electrical devices as per IEC60695-2-10 t0 IEC60695-2-13, UL746A, IEC829, DIN695 and VDE0471

Glow-Wire Test Apparatus (GW-1)

1.Introduction

The glow wire tester can meet the test requirements of IEC60695-2-10 to IEC60695-2-13, UL746A, IEC829, DIN695 and VDE0471. Heating the specific material and sharp heating wire to specific temperature (550 ℃~960 ℃) for 1 min by max current, and vertical burns the EUT with certain pressure (0.95N) for 30s, then check if the test specimen and bedding material are burning, and count the burning time to judge the dangerousness of the specimen. Generally the equipment is to test flammability, GWIT (glow-wire flammability index) and GWFI (glow-wire ignition temperature) of lighting lamps, electronic products and household appliances. The equipment is applicable to flame resistance test of all levels of QC departments and corresponding enterprises.

What is glow wire testing?

Glow wire testing is an electrical safety test to evaluate the flame resistant properties of plastic materials used in electrical devices. Its purpose is to protect against the risk of fire from overheated or electrically energised parts which may cause the plastic material to ignite. This may occur in normal use, under reasonable abnormal use, malfunction or failure of the product. The glow wire simulates an over-heated part which then comes into contact with plastic materials.

The glow-wire test apparatus is controlled by single chips and push buttons, the shell is made of coating metal sheet, the test apparatus built-in air exhaust, and the front panel is transparent for easy observation of the experimental process.
