Mechanical Strength Test Requirements for Electric Vehicle Conductive Charging System

Nowadays there are more and more electric vehicles, and the application of EV supply equipment is becoming more and more popular. According to the requirements of IEC61851-1-1:2019, and IEC61851-23:2023 standard, the EV supply equipment needs to do the mechanical strength test.

The requirements of IEC61851-1-1:2019 clause 12.11 is: For Mode 2 EV supply equipment the minimum degree of protection of the external enclosure against mechanical impact shall be IK08 according to IEC62262.

The requirements of the IEC61851-23:2023 is:For the mode 4 EV supply equipment, minimum degree of protection of the external enclosure against mechanical impact shall be IK08 according to IEC62262, carry out the test through a vertical hammer in accordance with the provisions of IEC60068-2-75 figure A.3, the impact energy is 5J, the equivalent mass of the impact element is 1.7KG, the drop height is 0.3m. After each impact, observe the enclosure to determine if any cracking or breaking occurred. Don’t consider blemishes, scratches, scuffing, and the like.

For this test, the IK07-11 Electromagnet release vertical impact hammer test equipment, IK07-IK10 striking elements and IK07-11 manual release vertical impact hammer produced by Pego can perform IK08 test. In addition, we can also add pendulum hammer test for it, the IK code impact testing machine can perform both vertical impact hammer test and pendulum impact hemmer test.
