Round Wire Mandrel Winding Test Apparatus
1. Introduction
The round wire mandrel winding test apparatus is designed according to IEC60851-3 clause 6.2.1 and GB/T4074.3 clause 6.2.1. It’s used to evaluate the flexibility, heat shock resistance, thermal bonding strength, resistance to water-containing transformer oil, weight loss, and other properties of enameled round wires with a nominal conductor diameter of 1.60mm or less.
A straight piece of wire shall be wound for 10 continuous and adjacent turns around a polished mandrel of the diameter given in the relevant standard. The mandrel shall be rotated with a rate of 1r/s to 3r/s with a tension applied to the wire that is just sufficient to keep it in contact with the mandrel. Elongating or twisting the wire shall be avoided.
