1. Definition of IK Pendulum Hammer
An IK pendulum hammer is a specialized tool crafted in line with the IEC60068 – 2 – 75 test Eha for conducting mechanical impact tests. It is capable of carrying out IK01 to IK11 tests as per the IEC62262 standard. This pendulum hammer is designed specifically for use on vertical surfaces without overhangs. The test apparatus essentially consists of a pendulum that rotates at its upper end, maintaining a vertical plane. The pivot axis is positioned 1000mm above the measuring point. The pendulum hammer itself is composed of a nominally rigid arm and a striking element.
2. Structure of the Pendulum Impact Test Apparatus
The pendulum impact test apparatus is made up of striking elements, a rigid arm, and a test rig. This setup enables the seamless execution of impact tests.
3. Advantages of PEGO’s Design
3.1 Customizable Height: The pendulum impact test apparatus allows for the customization of the travel height, typically ranging from 200 – 1200mm. This feature makes it adaptable to different heights of impact points.
3.2 Specimen Support: Equipped with a rigid plane support, it can hold or mount small specimens. For heavier, bulkier, or hard – to – handle specimens, they can be placed directly on the ground.
3.3 Versatile Testing Range: Users can perform IK01 to IK11 tests using a single test apparatus.
4. Application and Reference Standards
The pendulum hammer is designed in accordance with IEC60068 – 2 – 75 and GB2423.55. It is applied to test the mechanical impact strength of various components such as plugs, socket – outlets, mounting boxes, luminaires, substation cabinets, household appliances, tablet, laptops and EVCS (Electric Vehicle Charging Stations). It meets the test requirements of standards like IEC60884-1, IEC60598-1, IEC62196-1, and more. The IK pendulum hammer is used to simulate real – world impacts that these devices might encounter. This helps manufacturers ensure that their products can withstand normal usage – related impacts without malfunctioning.
5. Testing IK Levels
The IK code test apparatus is used for conducting tests from IK01 to IK11. To generate impacts of the required intensity, the striking element is released from a specific height, which depends on the equivalent mass of the pendulum.
IK code | IK01 | IK02 | IK03 | IK04 | IK05 | IK06 | IK07 | IK08 | IK09 | IK10 | IK11 |
Impact energy | 0.14J | 0.2J | 0.35J | 0.5J | 0.7J | 1J | 2J | 5J | 10J | 20J | 50J |
Falling height | 56mm | 80mm | 140mm | 200mm | 280mm | 400mm | 400mm | 300mm | 200mm | 400mm | 500mm |
6. Material of the Striking Elements
For IK01 to IK06 tests, the striking element consists of a steel body with a polyamide insert featuring a hemispherical face. The striking elements for IK07 to IK11 are made entirely of steel.
7. Avoiding Second – Impacts
To prevent second – impacts, the hammer can be manually grasped by the striking element after the initial impact. Alternatively, users can select a test apparatus equipped with an electric brake.
