IEC60529 IP Code Testing Solutions – IP Testing Equipment

The IEC60529 standard applies to the classification of degrees of protection provided by enclosures for electrical equipment with a rated voltage not exceeding 72.5kV. Its core objectives include:

1. Defining Protection Scope:

  • Clarifying enclosure protections against:
  • Human contact with internal hazardous parts (e.g., IP1X, IP2X, IP3X, IP4X, IP5X, and IP6X).
  • Ingress of solid foreign objects (e.g., IP1X, IP20, IP3X, IP4X).
  • Harmful effects from water ingress (e.g., IPX1, IPX2, IPX3, IPX4, IPX5, IPX6, IPX7, IPX8 andIPX9K).

2. Standardizing Protection Rating Labels:

Ensuring a unified and clear labeling method for protection ratings of devices produced by different manufacturers, facilitating identification and selection by users.

3. Specifying Requirements for Each Protection Level:

Technically defining the specific indicators that different protection levels must meet, providing precise references for manufacturing.

4. Standardizing Verification Tests:

Establishing procedures and methods for verifying enclosure compliance with this standard, ensuring the authenticity and reliability of protection ratings.
