The international standard IEC60335-1 deals with the safety of electrical appliances for household and similar purposes, their rated voltage being not more than 250V for single-phase appliances and 480V for other appliances including direct current (DC) supplied appliances and battery-operated appliances. This includes common household items like refrigerators, washing machines, and dishwashers, as well as some commercial and specialty appliances.
